Hollywood Bowl

Opened: 1922

Capacity: 17,500

A contemporary amphitheater in Hollywood, California, the Hollywood Bowl officially came to town back in 1922. It serves as a prime venue for music performances, chiefly hosting the Los Angeles Philharmonic during the summers.

Known for its iconic bandshell that has been featuring concentric arches since 1929, the place has played home to performances from names such as Frank Sinatra, the Beatles, and Pink Floyd, among others. This has earned it a place among the most visited event centers in America’s entertainment hotspot.

In 2004, a fresh, larger-than-usual shell was put in place of the original in a change that improved the venue’s overall acoustics. Regardless of objections from so-called preservationists, the upgrade retained design elements from previous shells, which, over time, bettered the venue’s sound quality.
