Home Teams: Buffalo Sabres (NHL)
Keybank Center has been home to the Buffalo Sabres of the NHL since it opened in 1996. While the venue has seen more than its fair share of the Sabres losing and missing out on the postseason in the years since, Keybank Center also witnessed some of the Sabres’ greatest moments of recent times when the team made a run through the Stanley Cup Playoffs all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1999. This was only the franchise’s second ever trip to the Finals (on their first attempt, way back in 1975, the Sabres were defeated by a Philadelphia Flyers team known as the “Broad Street Bullies”). Unfortunately, the Sabres of 1999 came up just short again in 1999, losing in Game Six against a talented Dallas Stars team at Keybank Center in triple overtime, the longest-ever Cup-winning game in history (to be fair, some people were probably just glad to go home at that point after six hours at the hockey rink!). Buffalo hockey fans are a resolute bunch, however, bouncing back from such defeats to come back year after year, hoping that each might be the Sabres’ time at last. At least showing up to Keybank Center hungry is no problem, with everything from pizza to nachos to Tim Horton’s donuts on the menu, along with plenty of nice cold beer. The venue also has numerous shops and kiosks where you can purchase Buffalo Sabres or event merchandise.
As well as all regular season and playoffs Buffalo Sabres hockey games, Keybank Center also hosts comedy shows, NCAA basketball games, UFC//MMA bouts, and concerts featuring such renowned performers as Drake, Jeff Dunham (comedy), Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Shania Twain, Journey, Rage Against the Machine, and many more. Here is a list of the biggest performances coming up in 2024 at Keybank Center:
・Apr 6 - Kane Brown
・May 4 - Tim McGraw
・Jun 16 - Nate Bargatze (comedy)
・Oct 6 - Jelly Roll
・Oct 21 - Justin Timberlake
