Kevin Hart

One of America's most famous, talented stand-up comedians and actors,  Kevin Hart, was born on July 6, 1979. He was brought up in Philadelphia by a single Mum and his older brother Robert Hart. 

Kevin’s mother worked as a system analyst. But his father was often in and out of jail because he was an addict. This drama strained the relationship he had with his father. However, his mother was there to give him the support he needed as a child.

Hart graduated from George Washington High School before he proceeded to the Community College of Philadelphia, although he later dropped out.  As a teenager, Hart developed a keen interest in basketball and someday aspired to become a great basketball player like the late Kobe Bryant, even though it didn't eventually happen. 

Hart's journey into comedy and filmmaking was not smooth, but after he played a recurring role in a TV series, he had his first breakthrough. No sooner than that, his comedy career began to bloom.

Unlike some other stand-up comedians like Chris Rock, who kicked off his comedy career early on in life. Hart's journey was entirely different. He is famous for his comedy on human sexuality, parenting, pop culture, racism, marriage, everyday life, and self-depreciation. He had his first stand-up performance at The Laff House in Philadelphia, which did not go well as expected.

However, he kept working on himself. In 2009, he made his first standup album. He titled it I’m A Grown Little Man, a corny way of describing his age and size. But he did not hold back. Between 2010 and 2016, he made four more. These were Seriously Funny, Laugh at My Pain,  Let Me Explain, and What Now?

Hart’s third and fourth albums were made as movie theater features. Laugh at My Pain (2011) not only got $15 million in commercial sales but was also listed on the top-selling comedy tours in the year the body of work was released. 

Between April 2015 and August 2016, Hart went on his first-ever comedy world tour. The campaign was tagged What Now? Tour. Subsequently, he went on two more tours. These were the Irresponsible Tour (2017 - 2018) and the Reality Check Tour (2022 - 2023). On April 17, 2024, Hart let the cat out of the bag on his fourth tour, “Acting My Age”. It starts June 29th and ends December 4th.

Asides from making people laugh on stage, he also makes ribs crack on screen. Hart is just as well an active movie star. His first movie role was in a TV series titled “Undeclared” (2001) where he made a guest appearance. In 2002, he made his film debut for Paper Soldiers (2002). 

Kevin had other film roles. They include Scary Movie, Soul Plane, Little Fockers, Think Like a Man, Central Intelligence with the rock Dwayne Johnson, and Grudge Match. Others are Ride Along 2 (2016), Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie (2017), Night School (2018), and the Jumanji film franchise (2017 - till date) with Jack Black.

Kevin Hart never stopped working tirelessly. He kept grinding until he started getting awards and nominations, which is not common for comedians. So far, he has gotten eight Teen Choice Award Nominations, two Teen Choice Awards, two Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards, two Grammy Awards Nominations, and three People's Choice Awards, among many other nominations and awards.

As an ever-moving artist, the chances are Kevin Hart will perform close to you soon. On the 17th of April, 2024, Kevin Hart announced his ninth tour, “Acting My Age,” across 18 cities in the United States. The first leg of the tour will kick off on June 29, 2024, in Westbury, NY.

While on tour, the comedian will perform at the Prudential  Center in Newark, New Jersey, on the 30th of June. In July, he will be performing in Las Vegas, Edmonton, Uncasville, and Poughkeepsie. On July 12, 2024, he will be performing in Las Vegas, NV.

During the tour, he will be performing twice in NY, in case you missed his show at Westbury, NY on June 29. You can attend his performance at Poughkeepsie, NY, on July 20 at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center. For August, the following cities should expect to see Hart, St. Louis, Seattle, Portland, and Spokane. On November 9, 2024, Hart will be performing in Boston, Massachusetts, and in Cleveland, Ohio on November 15, 2024. The final leg will be concluded on Dec. 4, 2024, in Philadelphia, PA.

While speaking on his forthcoming tour, Hart in a statement, said that, “Acting My Age’ is my ninth tour, and I wanted to change things up by creating a more intimate environment. This tour is about connecting with the audience and feeding off the crowd’s energy and laughter.”

The presales for Hart's upcoming tour, “Acting My Age,” begins on the 17th of April by 10:00 am and closes on the 19th of April by 9:45 am. While the general sales of the tickets will also commence on April 19 but at 10:00 am through TicketX.
