Coachella

The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is an annual music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, in the Coachella Valley of the Colorado desert. Past artists represented include Bjork, Calvin Harris, and Daft Punk. Coachella is also famous for its unique geographical location in the Colorado desert, and many music fans come to enjoy the unique atmosphere and music together. However, because of the desert environment, participants are sometimes subjected to sandstorms, and it is recommended that they be prepared for such an event. In addition, Coachella is not only about music, but also has a cultural and social aspect, with famous Youtube influencers and entrepreneurs participating, showing its appeal beyond the music world. Many attendees come dressed in Coachella-themed outfits and put all their energy into enjoying the world's greatest once-in-a-lifetime music event.

The history of Coachella

History of Coachella Founded in 1999 in Indio, California, Coachella is officially known as the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. It was founded by Paul Tollett and Rick Van Santen and is organized by Golden Voices, a division of AEG Presents. In recent years, the festival has featured a wide range of music genres, including rock, pop, indie, hip-hop, and EDM, as well as art installations. 1993's Pearl Jam concert at the Empire Polo Club was extremely well received, demonstrating the greatness of the venue The concept of Coachella was born. Originally scheduled to run for two days, Coachella did not take place in 2000, but instead made a comeback in 2001 as a one-day event. Eventually, the festival grew into a two-day weekend, and in 2003, camping became available. It also added festivals like Stagecoach, and its size has continued to grow and expand. Praised for its lineup and experience, Coachella has grown to become one of the most famous and profitable music events in the world. Notable events include the change to a two-day weekend in 2012 to accommodate increasing demand and the introduction of high-profile reunions and performances. Numerous disbanded and inactive groups and bands have returned to Coachella. Coachella, after a brief period of poor performance, including sporadic lineup changes and production setbacks, has now become a phenomenon that has transcended music culture, as seen in the film "The Idea of You," and finally has headliners such as Beyoncé.

Coachella Festival Grounds

There are many festival grounds in Coachella Festivals. Here are the information about each stage. Before attending the festival, please check where and when your favorite performers will appear on the stage. Like the schedule, the festival map is highly unlikely revealed until the gates open.

  • Coachella Stage – the biggest stage that attracts the most people. This is an outside stage where the main performers play.

  • Outdoor Theatre – a smaller outdoor stage next to the Coachella Stage.

  • Mojave – a medium-sized tent named after the Mojave Desert. It features a variety of music acts at different levels in their careers. In 2017, it was moved to a new location and then, in 2018, it was made bigger and moved to where Sahara used to be, close to the rose garden.

  • Gobi – a medium-sized tent similar to Mojave, named after the Gobi Desert, and hosts a variety of music acts. It also was moved in 2017.

  • Sahara – a big tent that looks like a hangar, named after the Sahara Desert, mainly for top electronic dance music. It was made larger in 2013, and in 2018, it was moved to a new location that's more spacious and near the festival entrance. The stage setup was changed to allow people to see better.

  • Yuma – a small indoor tent from 2013 for up-and-coming DJs, offering a quieter, more underground music experience.

  • Sonora – introduced in 2017, a small indoor tent for punk and Latin music.
